Intergenerational ‘Bingo and Bonding’ Scheduled in Asheville
The Intergenerational Connections Committee of Age-Friendly Buncombe County will host a special afternoon event at the West Asheville Public Library on Friday, Nov. 14, from 3-5 p.m. with all ages invited.
“Intergenerational activities bring people of all ages together to share experiences, build understanding, and strengthen community connections,” said Nick Brennan, Life Enrichment Coordinator with Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain. “They help reduce loneliness, promote mutual learning, preserve culture and traditions, and encourage empathy and respect between generations. Overall, these activities create a more united, caring, and resilient community.”
The Intergenerational Connections Committee was started by Age-Friendly Buncombe County as a way to bring different generations together to learn from each other, support people of all ages, promote positive aging, and reduce ageism.
Brennan said he especially wants to bring awareness to Givens Communities residents that this program is the first celebration of connection for Buncombe County. Residents can invite their family or come to socialize with others.
